The Marangu gate which is located in the southeast foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro is the doorway to Mount Kilimanjaro for this day trip. It is approximately an hour’s drive from Moshi town and the trek should begin as early as 10 am. Prior to the trek, your guide will give you a quick briefing at Marangu Gate about the tour, help you register with the Kilimanjaro National Park Authorities and pay the park entry fee.

The Marangu route is the shortest of all the routes that lead to the summit. The hike is pleasantly gentle and only takes you through the lower altitudes. Take notice of the blue Monkeys, beautiful sounds of the exotic birds around you, and if the skies are cloudless, you will be rewarded with some great views of Mawenzi. After about 4 hours of trekking you’ll reach Mandara Hut and take a 30-minute break. Take advantage of the free time to learn more about Mount Kilimanjaro from your guide while enjoying your lunch.

Visit the Maundi Crater after the lunch break and enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and Northern plains of Tanzania and Kenya in all their glory. From there, you will make your way back to the Marangu Gate for around two hours of gradual descent. Drive back to the agreed pick up point in Moshi or Arusha.
